Paintings by Martha Shaw

Jan 30, 2010 - May 23, 2010

Martha Shaw studied at Orange Coast College in Southern California and did graduate work at the San Francisco Art Institute. She studied printmaking and later turned to painting. Shaw's parents were artists and her grandfather taught at the Art Institute of Chicago.

It was at Orange Coast College where she met her husband Richard Shaw. Together they had five children spanning 17-1/2 years from the oldest, Alice and Virgil, to Dexter in the middle and finally, the twins Whitney and Catie.

Richard and Martha Shaw exhibited together in 2001 at B. Sakata Garo Fine Art, Sacramento, California. She currently paints and works collaboratively with Richard.

The Sonoma County Museum is grateful to the Shaw family for making this exhibition possible.
