
Highlights of the SCM Collections

Highlights of the SCM Collections opens April 17 through May 31, 2009 and features a selection of objects and artwork from the Sonoma County Museum Collections. The Museum’s entire collection contains approximately 20,000 items, all of which document Sonoma County’s history, art and culture, including the period prior to European contact.
The collection includes archival documents, ephemera, newspapers, rare books and diaries, 4000 photographs, 700 paintings, drawings and prints, over 1000 examples of local metalwork and metal sculpture, 1000 textiles and clothing items, over 100 ethnographic objects, approximately 500 examples of industrial tools and machinery, 500 ceramic and glass objects, 300 wood artifacts including furniture and sculpture, 1000 items related to science, technology and medicine, and 5000 or more historic objects representative of both regional daily life and significant people and events. This exhibition will feature examples of the museum’s art and artifacts.
