Rob Keller: Be(e)ing

Sep 22, 2007 - Jan 13, 2008

Guest-curated by Chandra Cerrito

Napa artist Rob Keller melds bee life and human domestic life this fall with his installation entitled Be(e)ing. Highlighting the interrelationship of humans and pollinators, Keller presents a colony of live bees housed in a Victorian dollhouse. The house, which is connected by a vented tube to the outside world, is placed amidst sights and sounds in which visitors can contemplate the life of bees and their keepers.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
A graduate of Sonoma State University and UC Davis, Rob was recently awarded a Creative Work Fund grant for the development of eMoViTO, a custom designed camper trailer and public artwork. This mobile interactive bee education center will travel to schools in Napa and Sonoma County to help children and adults gain a greater understanding and appreciation for the honeybee. Keller is currently a professor of photography at San Francisco State University and Diablo Valley College. He also teaches beekeeping at the Napa Adult School and Nimbus in St. Helena.
