Chris Natrop: fern blast space
July 22 - September 3, 2006
fern space blast is an environment of intricately cut paper with imagery drawn from the smallest eco-sites such as a puddle outside the artist’s studio door. Natrop, an artist based in Los Angeles, works primarily in paper which he arduously slices freehand with a mat knife into free-flowing works which he suspends from architectural surfaces such as walls and ceiling. The resulting installations have a surprising sculptural presence and feel both intimate and monumental atonce. The Sonoma County Museum’s Contemporary Project Space is dedicated to the presentation of contemporary art by emerging and established artists.
