Youth & School Tours

Tours require a minimum of one week advanced notice. K-12 Tours cost $3 per student, payable by credit card or check. This is a non-refundable fee. Teachers and up to 6 chaperones per classroom are free. We are committed to making school tours available to all students. We offer full or partial fee assistance to Title I schools and youth groups that need assistance. Please complete the bottom portion of the tour booking form under Fee Assistance and email to Cynthia Leung at .

The Museum provides several different options for school and youth groups. These include:

Gallery Tours

During this interactive 60-75 minute program, students explore various aspects of the Museums of Sonoma County's current exhibitions with a trained docent guide. Depending on the exhibition, the students’ grade, and availability, students may work from provided worksheets with questions related to art, history, or social studies.

Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS): We offer VTS-based tours to all elementary school-aged groups, and will work with teachers to develop a VTS visit to suit their students’ needs.

Student Activity

A 30-minute student art activity may be added to a tour. The hands-on art activity is related to the Museum’s current exhibition, and can include writing, depending on the activity. All materials will be provided.

School Assignments

Secondary school educators are encouraged to give homework assignments that involve a museum visit; we will charge students the school tour price ($3) instead of the regular admission price ($7) if we are given a list of students in advance.
